In Mexico and Brazil, your client first sees the Cord Payments checkout and, below it, the Pay with Mercado Pago button. In Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Peru, where Cord Payments is not available, Mercado Pago is your account's online payment rail. In Cord's other countries it is not offered.

VERIFIED CONFIRMATION

A notification does not mark a payment. Reading it in your account does.

When a payment happens, Mercado Pago notifies Cord with a signed message and Cord rejects any whose signature does not match. Then Cord reads the payment in Mercado Pago with your account's access: only an approved payment marks the charge as paid. A pending payment, such as cash, is marked when Mercado Pago approves it, and a repeated notification never records the payment twice.

Cord charges with your own Mercado Pago account: you appear as the seller at checkout and every payment lands there, with the fee from your terms with Mercado Pago. Cord stores the access encrypted, renews it automatically and only uses it to open your quotes' charges and read whether they were paid.

How to connect Mercado Pago

Open Payments
In Cord, go to Settings › Payments. You need the Configure payments permission.

Connect Mercado Pago
On the Mercado Pago card, press Connect Mercado Pago.

Authorize your account
Sign in with the business account that will receive the money and authorize Cord.

Ready to get paid
Back in Cord the card says Connected and your quotes offer the payment button.

A Cord Invoicing invoice link does not offer Mercado Pago yet; only quotes do.
Recurring retainers are not charged with Mercado Pago: they need the Cord Payments subscription.
Refunds are made from your Mercado Pago account and Cord does not read them yet: note them in the quote history.

Does Cord charge with my Mercado Pago account or with Cord's?

With yours. You appear as the seller at checkout and the money goes straight to your Mercado Pago account; it never goes through Cord.

What fee does Mercado Pago charge?

The one on your account, according to your terms with Mercado Pago. It is deducted from each payment.

In which countries can I get paid with Mercado Pago in Cord?

Cord offers it in Mexico and Brazil, as an alternative to Cord Payments, and in Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Peru, as your account's online payment rail. In all of them you get paid with your own Mercado Pago account and with the methods Mercado Pago offers in each country.

What does my client see when paying?

On the quote payment page they see the Pay with Mercado Pago button with its logo. If you also have Cord Payments, they see that checkout first and the Mercado Pago button below. Pressing it takes them to the Mercado Pago checkout and, once the payment is approved, back to your link.

Can I test it without charging for real?

Create a quote for a small amount, pay it from another browser without a session using a card that is not from your own Mercado Pago account —Mercado Pago does not let you pay yourself— and refund it afterwards from Mercado Pago.
