WHAT GETS CHARGED

Deposit on approval, balance on the due date, retainer every month.

If you ask for a deposit, the link shows your client at first glance how much they pay on approval and when the balance is due, and charges each part separately. A retainer is authorized once by card and Cord Payments charges it every month. On an invoice, your client can pay part of the balance and the rest stays open.

Cord Payments: the questions we hear most.

There's no extra fee on any plan, including Free. Cord charges no platform fee in your currency for now: only the payment processor's rate applies, deducted from the payment.

No. They open the quote or invoice link and pay right there, from their phone or computer, without signing up or installing anything. Card payments are encrypted and processed by Cord Payments: your business never sees your client's card details.

Card, on every plan. In beta, the link also offers pre-authorized debit, only when the sale is in CAD. Monthly plans are charged by card.

It's in beta, on invoices in Canadian dollars. Your client authorizes the debit from their Canadian bank account in the invoice link or their portal, and the payment is recorded once the bank confirms it. Until it's turned on for your account, bank transfers and cheques received outside the link are recorded by hand against the same balance.

Your business details, the people who control it (each partner with 25% or more and whoever runs it, with their real role) and your payout account. What's requested comes from your country's requirements, so you don't fill in fields that don't apply there. You take the ID photo with your phone by scanning a QR code, and Cord strips its GPS location before sending it for verification.

As soon as your account is verified. While something is missing, Payments shows how many requirements are pending and the deadline, and payouts wait. Changing your payout frequency or bank account requires confirming your identity, because it decides where and how often your money goes out.

Yes, in full or in part: a quote payment from Payments and an invoice payment from that invoice's detail page. Before you confirm, Cord verifies your identity and tells you what the method doesn't allow. It takes the Refunds permission, which not even the Admin role has by default.
