QUOTE ALERTS

The number, the client and the total, in the channel your team already uses.

Connecting Slack turns nothing on by itself: in Settings › Notifications you tick the Slack column on the events you want —quote viewed, approved, rejected, payment received, expiring and payment overdue—. Each alert is a short message with the quote number, what happened, the client, the total with its currency and a link to open the quote.

YOUR OWN MESSAGES WITH WORKFLOWS

Write the message yourself and decide when it goes out.

With the Send a Slack message action in Cord Workflows you post any text, with event data such as {{client}}, {{folio}} or {{amount}}, and only when your conditions are met: when a deposit arrives, when a chargeback is opened or only when the sale is above a certain amount. It works even with Notifications alerts turned off.

NOTHING IS READ

Cord posts to one channel. It does not read your workspace.

Cord posts through an Incoming Webhook: an address Slack generates for the channel you choose. Slack adds an app called Cord to your workspace that signs the messages. If you would rather they come from your own Slack app's name and icon, you can paste your own webhook.

SETUP

How to connect Slack

    Open the integration

    In Cord, go to Settings › Integrations and tap Slack.

    Add Cord to Slack

    Press Add to Slack, pick the channel for the alerts and press Allow.

    Send a test

    Back in Cord the card says Connected to your channel. Press Send test to see a sample message.

    Turn on the alerts

    In Settings › Notifications tick the Slack column on the events you want.

NO SURPRISES

What it does not do yet

We would rather you read it here than find it out halfway through.

  • Cord posts to one channel at a time; for several channels you can use Make with Cord webhooks.
  • Notifications alerts are about quotes: an event without a quote number is not posted.
  • The "someone joined the team" alert only goes out by email.
  • If your workspace restricts app installs, a Slack admin will need to approve it.

Slack and Cord, answered

No. Cord posts through an Incoming Webhook, an address Slack generates for one specific channel. Cord does not read your messages and can only post to that channel.

Quote viewed by the client, approved, rejected, payment received, quote expiring (3 days before) and payment overdue. You turn them on one by one in Settings › Notifications; connecting Slack turns none on by itself.

Yes, with the Send a Slack message action in Cord Workflows. You write the text with event data and choose when it goes out, with conditions and waits. It posts to the same connected channel and works even with Notifications alerts turned off.

On the Slack card press Change channel and pick another in Slack, or Disconnect so Cord stops posting. Workflows using the Slack action will start asking you to connect Slack again.
