International invoicing

Invoice in the country where you sell and in the currency of the sale. Cord picks each country's rail: CFDI in Mexico, European e-invoices, tax authority rails in beta and, where none is active, a commercial invoice with its own numbering.

One way to invoice, in any country

The regulatory rail changes depending on where you are; your workflow does not. Approve the quote, hit invoice, and Cord picks the rail that matches your country and your account.

How the rail is chosen

  • Mexico: CFDI 4.0 stamped with the SAT.
  • European Union: the invoice also comes out as Factur-X, XRechnung or Peppol when the business chooses to: in Germany and France today, and in Spain on invoices registered with Verifactu, which can also come out as Facturae.
  • Spain: registration with the AEAT through Verifactu is switched on and in beta until the first accepted submission; each account activates it by connecting its certificate.
  • Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru: authorization with ARCA, the national NFS-e system and the SEFAZ, the SII, the DIAN and SUNAT is built and in beta. Each rail is switched on per country after testing with a real taxpayer, and each account activates it with its own credentials.
  • France: transmission through an approved platform is built and in beta; the reform's mandatory mentions already appear on every French invoice.
  • No active rail: a Cord commercial invoice, with its own numbering per organization, data frozen at issue time and a PDF carrying your brand. It does not claim to have been filed with the local tax authority.

In every country

  • In the currency of the sale: if your books are in another currency, the invoice states the exchange rate applied and the converted total.
  • Numbering per country and issuer: each country keeps its own series (Spain resets yearly), and two organizations with the same tax ID can't number with the same series.
  • The country's language and vocabulary: the PDF is written in the issuer's language and names the tax and the tax ID the way its authority does.
  • Pro forma where it matters: in Mexico, in Spain and wherever the country's rail is active, a document without tax validity comes out as a pro forma so nobody mistakes it for an invoice.

What it does not do yet

Outside active rails, the invoice is not filed with the local authority. Peppol for the United Kingdom and receiving supplier invoices are on the roadmap.

How it works

  1. The organization configures its tax profile, series, and accounting currency.

  2. On issue, Cord picks the country's rail and freezes issuer, recipient, lines, taxes, and exchange rate.

  3. It creates a branded PDF with number, due date, taxes, and payment instructions.

Availability and scope

Commercial invoice for markets without an active tax rail, and the starting point for each country's rails: CFDI in Mexico; Verifactu in Spain; ARCA, NFS-e and NF-e, SII, DIAN and SUNAT in Latin America; and European e-invoicing.

Clear limits

Cord never claims to file a document with an authority it has no active rail with for that account. Beta rails are switched on per country; until then the document in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru is a commercial invoice. In Spain, without a connected certificate, it is a pro forma.
