Customize Home and its widgets
Home is the first thing you see when you open Cord. At the top is the money indicator (Closed, Collected, and Quoted) with the date picker; below it, a board of widgets you can arrange however you like. The money indicator always stays pinned at the top: everything else can be customized.
Before you start
- Your layout is yours alone. Moving, hiding, or adding widgets changes your Home in that organization; your teammates keep theirs.
- It saves itself. There’s no save button: every change is recorded right away and follows you to your computer, tablet, and phone. If you edit on two devices at once, the layout you changed last is the one that stays.
- You only see what applies to you. A widget your permissions or plan don’t allow doesn’t appear on the board or in the library.
1. Enter edit mode
- On Home, click Customize (the sliders icon) at the top right.
- Each widget shows an outline and a control bar. Customize is replaced by three round buttons: Library, Reset, and Done. Hover over each one to see its name.
- While you edit, widget content doesn’t respond to clicks, so you don’t open a quote by accident.
2. Move a widget
- With the mouse: drag the card to its new spot. The other widgets rearrange themselves. If you change your mind mid-drag, press
Escape. - With buttons: use Move up and Move down in the widget’s bar. Each click moves it one place.
3. Resize
In the widget’s bar, choose Compact or Expanded. It only appears on widgets that have two sizes: a single figure, for example, has just one.
4. Hide what you don’t use
Click the X (Hide) in the widget’s bar. It leaves the board and waits in the library for when you want it back. Hiding a widget doesn’t delete any data.
5. Add widgets from the library
- In edit mode, click Library (the grid with a plus sign). The number on the button tells you how many widgets you can add.
- The Widget library opens as a floating card next to the button. Under the title you see a summary, for example “3 to add · 16 on screen”.
- Filter by category: All widgets, To add, or a group (KPIs, Pipeline, Finance, Rankings, Activity). Each category shows how many widgets it has.
- Or type in Search widgets…: it searches names, descriptions, and groups.
- Each card shows a thumbnail with today’s data. The ones you can add are listed first.
- Click the card’s + (Add) button. The widget lands on the board, the page scrolls to it, and the button turns into a check mark (On screen).
The library doesn’t block the board: you can keep moving widgets while it’s open. Close it with its X, with Escape, or by clicking outside it.
6. Finish
Click Done (the check mark) or press Escape. The controls disappear and your board stays the way you left it.
Go back to the original layout
- In edit mode, click Reset (the circular arrow).
- Confirm “Reset the dashboard’s widget order and hidden widgets?”.
- The page reloads with the original order, sizes, and widgets. Widgets you added from the library go back to it.
The Home widgets
Next to its title, each widget says which period it measures: Today (a snapshot of right now), Range (follows the date picker), or All time (your whole history). We explain this in detail in Read the KPIs and the date picker.
On your board from the start:
- KPIs: In progress (what’s been sent or viewed and the client hasn’t decided yet, and how much of it they’ve already opened), Close rate, Average ticket, and Needs follow-up (quotes viewed with no reply).
- Pipeline: Conversion funnel (Sent, Viewed, Approved, Paid), Pipeline (amount by status), and Monthly trend (quoted vs. closed).
- Finance: Receivables aging, Expected cash flow (the next 5 weeks), and Pipeline health (average days to collect, risk concentration, discount given away, and expected revenue).
- Rankings: Clients by approval rate and Products by revenue.
- Activity: Needs follow-up, Recent quotes, Activity, and Tasks.
To add from the library:
- Collected: money that came in during the range, with its change and a sparkline.
- Days to close: average days from creating a quote to winning it.
- Sent to paid: how much of what you sent ended up paid, across your whole history.
- Expected pipeline: your open pipeline weighted by probability.
- Overdue invoices: the ones that weigh the most, with days overdue and balance.
- Sales leaderboard: who on the team closes the most value.
Many widgets take you to the detail: a click on a funnel or pipeline bar opens the filtered quote list; on a row of Overdue invoices, that invoice.
With the keyboard
Tabmoves through the controls. Move up, Move down, Compact, Expanded, and Hide are buttons: activate them withEnterorSpace.- When the library opens, focus goes to the search box.
Escapewith the library open closes it and returns focus to the Library button. A secondEscapeleaves edit mode and returns focus to Customize.- Screen readers announce every change: “moved”, “added to the board”, or “hidden; find it in the library”.
On a phone or tablet
On narrow screens (under 880 px), the board stacks into a single column and editing is touch-first:
- There’s no dragging and no Compact / Expanded: reorder with Move up and Move down, which grow to a finger-friendly size.
- The library opens as a sheet from the bottom. When you add a widget it closes on its own so you can see where it landed.
- On a chart, the first tap shows the value; to go to the detail, use View detail inside the label.
Other screens you customize the same way
The same Customize button exists in Payments, Collections, Collections agent, Performance, Settings › Team & roles, and in the widget reports under Reports (Overview, Commercial diagnosis, Clients, Products, Finance, Cash flow · 90 days, and Collections and receivables). Each screen keeps its own layout, so rearranging one doesn’t change the others.
Common issues
I can’t find a widget in the library. Your permissions or plan don’t include it. Analytics widgets require the Reports permission; Receivables aging also requires the Collections permission and the Professional plan or higher; Overdue invoices requires Collections and a plan with invoicing; Expected pipeline, the Professional plan or higher. If your role changes, the widget appears as soon as you reload.
I don’t see Expected cash flow, Pipeline health, or Needs follow-up. They’re calculated with the financial metrics included from the Professional plan, like Receivables aging. On Free and Starter they don’t appear on Home or in the library; once you upgrade they come back on their own. They also disappear if your role lacks the Reports permission.
My layout went back to an older one. You probably changed it later on another device: the most recent complete layout stays, not a mix of both.
I arranged my Home and my teammate doesn’t see the change. That’s on purpose: each person has their own layout.
I don’t see the Customize button in a report. Table reports (like Sales over time or Payments received) don’t have widgets: you sort them by column and export them. See Cord’s reports.
