Like any payment provider subject to anti-money-laundering rules, the processors integrated into Cord set transaction processing limits for new accounts. These limits apply to the connected payment account, available today for businesses domiciled in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
Limits per card transaction (payments in Mexican pesos)
For recently created accounts (first 30 days) billing in Mexican pesos:
- Maximum charge per transaction: $50,000 MXN.
- Maximum monthly volume: $300,000 MXN.
If you send a payment link to a customer for $100,000 MXN and they attempt to pay it with a card during this initial period, the transaction will be declined by our fraud engine.
For charges in other supported currencies (USD, CAD, BRL, EUR, GBP), the account’s initial limit is set by that country’s risk review and may differ from the figures above; check it directly in Settings › Payments.
Payments via bank transfer (SPEI, Mexico only)
Payments received via electronic transfer (SPEI) using the dynamic CLABE accounts that Cord generates per quote have no limit. You can collect invoices worth millions of pesos through this channel without friction, since the risk of fraud/chargeback is zero. This transfer only exists for payments in Mexican pesos; in every other supported country there is no equivalent, and online payment is always by card.
Requesting a card limit increase
If your corporate billing requires processing higher charges with corporate cards (B2B):
- Go to Settings › Payments.
- Upload your bank statements from the last 3 months and, if your business is in Mexico, your Annual Tax Return (elsewhere, the equivalent proof of income).
- Our risk team will permanently raise your transactional processing limit in less than 48 hours.
